In today’s world, responsibility means making thoughtful decisions about materials, production, and partnerships, while still creating products that people want to wear and keep for a long time. It is about transparency, durability, and respect for the people and processes behind every product. We believe in continuous improvement, asking better questions, and staying close to the places and partners we work with. Responsibility today is not about perfection. It is about consistency, honesty, and building products with intention.

Vegea Vegan
VEGEA is a plant-based material made by transforming by-products from the wine industry into new, functional materials. Produced in collaboration with Italian wineries, it utilizes grape marc — the skins, stalks, and seeds discarded during wine production — and turns this biomass into a durable leather alternative. The Grape is crafted using VEGEA, reflecting INUIKII’s exploration of innovative alternative materials for modern footwear.
Organic materials
Working with organic and biodegradable materials is an important focus at INUIKII. Many of our shoes are lined with European shearling — a biodegradable, breathable and naturally thermostatic material that offers comfort while remaining environmentally responsible.
At the same time, we continuously explore new projects centered on circularity, second-life solutions, and the development of both purely natural and technologically advanced materials.
Leather
All our leather is LWG-certified and sourced exclusively as a by-product of the meat industry. The same applies to our shearling. We focus on durability and long-term wear.
Wool
Our wool comes from local farmers in Northern Portugal and is RWS-certified. It is fully mulesing-free. We increasingly use wool over shearling, as wool requires significantly less water in production.
Suede & Textile
Our suede meets OEKO-TEX® standards. All cotton laces are made from organic cotton and are OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified.
Eco-Rubber Soles
Made with up to 70% devulcanized rubber, meaning up to 70% recycled material, processed in our facilities. The rubber is sourced from our internal production waste, giving it a second life through our devulcanization process.
Testing
We conduct regular chemical testing on incoming materials through independent laboratories such as Intertek and CTCP. Tests are performed in line with REACH regulations and screen for restricted substances such as chromium and azo dyes. All suppliers have signed our Supplier Code of Conduct, covering workers’ rights and environmental responsibility. Our factories are audited by amfori, and we maintain close relationships through regular visits and quality controls. In China, our production partner operates a wastewater treatment system that cleans used water in multiple stages before release.
Built to last
Responsibility is not a single initiative — it is an ongoing process. As a member of STS2030, we continuously evaluate and improve our environmental and social standards. For us, responsibility means:
|
Design |
Designed for durability and long-lasting wear. |
|
Sourcing |
Carefully sourced materials from trusted partners. |
|
Partnerships |
Built on trusted, long-term partnerships. |
|
Improvement |
An ongoing commitment to progress and improvement. |
Why it matters
Better materials mean longer wear. Longer wear means fewer replacements. And fewer replacements mean a smaller footprint over time. Quality is responsibility.
